Stainless steel fruit and vegetable storage rack
My long-term principle is to buy 304 stainless steel whenever possible, rather than 201 stainless steel, because 201 stainless steel rusts. Considering my daily storage needs as well as my need to dry dried tangerine peel, this portable basket is convenient for me to move to the balcony to dry the peels easily. I can dry small quantities of different types of peel in layers, preventing them from getting mixed up.
It’s quick and easy to bring inside in the afternoon, and when not drying, I use it to store books and miscellaneous items—a perfect two-in-one solution! However, it’s a bit of a shame that this portable basket isn’t made of stainless steel.
Overall, it meets the long-term principle of combining aesthetics with practicality.
Looking at the design details with additional requirements in mind, four points impressed me:
1. While a similar 304 stainless steel version existed, its side mesh was sparse. This was sufficient for general storage, but prone to dropping items like dried tangerines. This denser mesh effectively solves this problem.
2. The double thin strips reinforcing the top frame make it more aesthetically pleasing, and the overall steel wire is thicker, providing adequate load-bearing capacity. The flat, shiny 304 frame looked unattractive, and the thinner wire made it appear flimsy, potentially causing deformation if books were placed on it later.
3. The nameplate in the lower left corner is a plus; it can be used as a sticker or magnetic label, useful when drying various types of dried tangerine peel together. 4. The crystal wheels of the omnidirectional casters are not only lighter and more aesthetically pleasing than black plastic wheels but also more durable. Considering these details, I hesitated a bit about the material. Electroplated carbon steel is fine; it’s rust-resistant.
